Sail Austin Charters is a Lake Travis private yacht charter service, located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country on beautiful Lake Travis.

We offer a unique way to experience the best that Lake Travis has to offer. Come celebrate your special occasion with us in style! Take a look at just some of the services we provide:

The yacht is a Hunter 450 Passage. She is named Quintessence and is the largest sailing vessel on Lake Travis. Her size is impressive as she is a 27,000 lb center cockpit, sloop-rigged cruiser fully capable of sailing anywhere in the world.

She is complimented with two staterooms (bedrooms), each with queen berths (beds). The main salon has a dining table which easily seats 5 – 7 people and which can be converted to sleep two additional people. Finally, the port side seating sleeps a 7th person, if needed.

The galley (kitchen) is fully equipped with microwave, three burner propane stove and oven. There are also two heads (bathrooms), each with a toilet and sink. The forward head has a shower and there is also a standalone shower/tub in the main stateroom. Additionally, there is an outside shower on the aft (back) of the yacht which allows you to rinse off with both warm and cold water when exiting the lake.

On the back deck are two oversized cushions for taking in the sun as well as two seats built into the aft rail. The center cockpit seats 8-10 people and has a bimini sun cover and convertible table for eating in the fresh air. In short… it is a luxury yacht built for safety and designed to impress.

My husband and I were visiting the area from up north and needed a day on the water. We also needed to brush up on our sailing skills. We were very fortunate that Captain Tim was available and provided the perfect charter. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shares the love of sailing. We had such a great time and appreciated his instruction (and patience!). The snacks and bottle water were perfect and the boat was beautiful! He took photographs during the trip and captured some great photos of our family. We are looking forward to chartering with Captain Tim next winter when we are back in the Lake Travis area!

They Go The Extra Mile! Great experience and all the comforts of a large sailing vessel (yep, including restroom on board). Allowed us to bring snacks and drinks on board… they even provided warm snuggly blankets for a chilly evening sunset sail!

*Note: with Lake Travis being so low, they will shuttle you out to the sailboat using a smaller boat. Short ride at low speeds.

We did a private charter with Sail Austin this past Sunday and it was a fantastic experience! Captain Tim was communicative, accommodating, funny, and knowledgeable. Everyone in our group had a blast and I think a big part of that is how awesome Captain Tim was. The birthday boy was also able to learn priceless sailing skills/knowledge. We took a private cruise with Cap’n Tim for my birthday! Not only was the weather perfect, but Captn Tim went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. His expertise and customer service is top notch. He even took some amazing photos which helped us stay off our phones and allowed us to enjoy the moment. Captain Tim with Sail Austin Charters is amazing. I wanted to take my mother on a boat ride for her 80th birthday. She grew up boating and skiing and had not been able to be on a lake in many years. She walks with a walker and getting her into a boat from the hills of Lake Travis took some finagling. It wouldn’t have happened without Captain Tim. He went above and beyond the call of duty to help my mother and make her birthday very very special.

I booked a charter as a surprise for my wife for our anniversary on a getaway trip to Austin. It was hands down our favorite part of the whole trip! Captain Tim is the consummate host. Tremendous service and extremely skilled, we were definitely in good hands. The boat was so nice and so spacious. It was also our first time sailing, the bar is set pretty high! Would recommend to anyone either specifically looking to cruise Lake Travis or just looking for something great to do or entertain.

My girlfriend and I took a Sunset cruise for her birthday. Our Cruise Captain, Tim, was outstanding and very personable. The booking was last minute because weather concerns and Tim went out of his way to accommodate any need or request. The views of Lake Travis were beautiful even during the season where the water was lower and we couldn’t have asked for a better vessel to enjoy a relaxing day! Tim didn’t tell us that he was also a professional photographer, but he even took pictures to chronicle the event and they were included in the booking. This was our first cruise with SailAustin.com and I am sure we will travel with them again.

This was an amazing experience! We did a shared sunset sail and enjoyed every minute. Captain Tim was delightful and even took some complimentary candid shots of us during the cruise. Bring a small cooler with your choice of snacks, beer/wine, and a couple of waters and you’re set!

My family and I sailed with Captain Tim in January 2022. We scheduled the sailing trip to take engagement photos. The sailing event was much more than expected because the Captain was friendly, attentive, and helped our photographer take photos with his photography equipment.

We spent a beautiful day with Captain Tim yesterday with his gorgeous boat. Captain Tim is an expert and master’s his craft! His hospitality and knowledge put us at ease as soon as we shook hands! My wonderful partner hired Capt. Tim to provide the ambiance and backdrop for a most memorable wedding proposal!! We got engaged!!! The setting was perfect and Capt. Tim not only provided a beautiful day sailing, but also captured the event with wonderful pictures! There was nothing more that Capt. Tim could have done to make a more perfect day. The experience was a beautiful memory of my late father, also an incredibly skilled captain. The day was filled with my sweet memories of sailing with my dad and starting a new chapter with my amazing man. Thank you Captain Tim! This trip from beginning to end was fantastic. Captain Tim is a man who knows how to sail. From the first conversation that we had, he broked down every that i wanted from the sail and stuck to the agenda amazingly. During the sail he really changed from just being the captain to becoming a member of the group. There is bluetooth connection so you can play your own music and choose the right ambience for your amazing cruise. Absolutely would recommend anyone to do it.

I can’t speak highly enough of Captain Tim and the experience. I booked a charter for my now Fiancée and I for a romantic proposal. Tim was not only available when needed for calls, but also went out of his way to help me plan out every piece of the endeavor. Tim runs the company, takes the calls, sails the boat, and even takes all the pictures (see attached), so you have one point of communication for everything. Overall, the professionalism, communication, and the friendly attitude that Tim conveyed made this the best charter I’ve ever been on. I highly recommend that, if you are considering a sailboat trip and he is available, you book with Tim as he will go out of his way to make the experience unforgettable!

Awesome sunset ride with Captain Tim. Tim gave us a great experience and all 5 of our family loved the whole evening. Tim took pictures, provided snacks and water, and helped keep the kids entertained. Conversation on the boat with Tim was excellent as well. Wonderful experience. Hard to describe how calming for the sole those 4 hours were. Having never experienced a sailboat of that size, it was a little daunting at first sight but the knowledge, expert handling, and calm demeanor that Captain Tim displayed put confidence in both me and my wife, she had never been sailing before and has had a fear of water. Can’t say enough about how magical sailing into the sunset and then across moon-lit waters. Well worth the cost, it’s an experience that will stick with you for quite some time.

He has a wealth of seafarer knowledge and experience that makes the cruise even more interesting. I’d trust him to deliver an amazing experience anywhere — be it the Caribbean, Thailand, Bahamas, Mediterranean, the Galapagos or San Juans (San Juans, please!), and yes even Lake Travis!

I chartered a 3-hour sunset cruise with my family: a range of ages (33-83) and personalities. Capt. Tim skillfully accommodated us individually and as a group. Navigating from the Hurst Harbor Marina into the Hurst Creek Arm of the Colorado River & Lake Travis, he takes safety very seriously (which I appreciate) and conveys safety rules in a serious yet interesting way.

We lucked out for sure! A sunset sail was a last minute idea to add to a fun day in the Austin area, and we were fortunate enough to catch Tim with a spot just right for our family. What a wonderful evening! Tim is a joy to spend time with, so knowledgable and he made our land loving crew feel like we belonged on the water all along! Took my 9 year old son out on a beautiful sunset sail with Captain Tim and we had the best time! It was our first sail so I wasn’t sure what to expect but, wow!! It was perfection! Captain Tim couldn’t have been more inviting, personable, accommodating and skilled at his craft. I immediately felt safe and completely at home as soon as we stepped on board. Fun, relaxed vibe. We brought snacks, listened to music, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for the 3 hour sail. Captain Tim even took pics and was so nice to let my little guy take over at the helm a few times (which was his dream come true)! The weather was great, sunset was beautiful and we rode home on a high that lasted until bedtime. Would highly recommend a sail with Captain Tim, we’ll be back for sure!

We went on a 2 hour cruise with captain Tim on Friday and on a 3 hours nighttime cruise on Saturday. We were celebrating our one year anniversary which will remind unforgettable now thanks to captain Tim!

Couldn’t have been more pleased with our sunset sail. It is very apparent that Captain Tim loves his job. It made a world of difference that he was genuinely excited to be there with us. My husband and I aren’t very fond of the typical Valentine’s dinner date and I am so thrilled that we happened upon such a unique and romantic way to spend the day together. Although you have the choice to have a private tour, we chose to share the cruise with two other couples we know. A great time with great company. We will absolutely be sailing with Captain Tim again!!

I want to take the time to express how much I enjoyed sailing with my bachelorette party with Captain Tim. It’s easy to find a party boat to rent for the day, but what really sold me was Captain Tim and his charter. From the beginning, he was very excited for our trip, easy to communicate with, and most of all, fun! The boat is beautiful and has all the great amenities. He made me and my girls feel special and it definitely was a day for the books. I could not recommend his sail boat enough and as a really great bonus, he’s also a photographer so my girls and I have these funny and amazing photos from the day uploaded directly after!

We sailed Sail Austin Charters for a day during my bach weekend in Austin and could not be happier with the experience! Cap’n Tim was easy to work with and made the entire experience stress free from the time of booking through the time we got off the boat. Captain Tim was AWESOME! My friends surprised me for my birthday with an evening sailboat excursion from 6 – 10 pm. I could not recommend this more. We sailed for a bit, swam for a long bit, and then went night sailing which is something I will never forget. Not to mention Captain Tim was so great, took tons of pictures of us, and even taught some of us how to drive the sailboat. We had 10 people and it was perfect. He let us use the downstairs area to store our food and change. 10/10 experience.

What an incredible experience! I came with a group of friends, and enjoyed a beautiful day on the water. The marina is beautiful, the boat is gorgeous and comfortable, and Captain Tim is highly skilled and fun to be around. His consummate knowledge about sailing made us all feel very safe, and we even got to experience some fun gusts of wind! We loved the trip, and Captain Tim did so much to make it fun, safe, and memorable for us. His pictures of our group will be great memories for years to come.

I came to Austin for a Bachelorette party and sailing with Captain Tim was the highlight of the trip! He accommodated 8 of us on the boat for 4 hours in the afternoon and we had such a fun time. We packed wine and snacks to relax in the sun, and since it was a hot day in October we went swimming off the back of the boat. Captain Tim took care of everything from keeping us safe and comfortable on board, to providing a cooler for our snacks, and keeping the music playing! He took fantastic photos of our whole experience which he shared with us after the trip. It was such a memorable day and a perfect way to celebrate our Bride to be!!

Our cruise with Captain Tim was beyond amazing and he made it such a fun experience! I chartered a private sunset cruise this past weekend to propose to girlfriend (now fiancee!). This was my first time on a sailboat, and Tim made the entire process so simple and easy. The booking process was very clear and I felt confident that we would have a great time. He was very helpful in helping plan the onboard proposal and offered plenty of tips and ideas to make it perfect.

From the moment we arrived, he took the time to show us around and get to know us. He’s very personable and has some great stories about his nearly 50 years of sailing! We enjoyed sitting and talking with him while we set out from the dock. Once we were underway, we sat out on the back of the sailboat and enjoyed a picnic and wine that I brought along and spent the remainder of the cruise on the bow watching the water splash by and looking at the scenery. He even let us take the wheel for a bit which was awesome!

The sailboat is beautiful, well maintained, and he offers pretty much everything we needed! We felt at home on the boat and enjoyed the gorgeous weather! Captain Tim is also a photographer and took amazing photos of us throughout the cruise and also captured our engagement perfectly! We’ll treasure this experience for a lifetime and I can’t recommend Sail Austin and Captain Tim enough! We will definitely be coming back with friends!

Captain Tim is a consummate gentleman. A generous host with enough experience to know when the guests wish to remain among their own private discourse. The sailboat is lovely, well maintained and is a joy to sail upon.

I highly recommend chartering with Captain Tim. The entire evening built memories that will last a lifetime. I also recommend booking for 3 hours as the standard 2 hour would not have been enough.

Chartered the boat for 4 hours for 4th of July weekend and what a treat! We had never been sailing before so we didn’t really know what to expect. Talk about pleasantly surprised. Everything was perfect from the huge selection of music to serving up watermelon while we took a dip in the lake. Victoria played my favorite “sailing” song just as the sun staterted to set, I’ll never forget that. Didn’t want it to end but I’m ready to do it again. Tim was a fabulous captain and photographer and an even more patient human for putting up with our bachelorette party! We were a bit worried about impending weather but Tim was right. The best time, on a stunning boat, with the wonderful Captain Tim! This was the first time our group of friends and family has done a sail boat charter. Far superior to the party barges and motor boat rentals we’ve done in the past. By the time our sail was wrapping up, we were already planning the next one! Unforgettable experience. Cap’n Tim was great! The bride and all of the girls had a fabulous time sailing and celebrating! I definitely recommend Sail Austin to anyone who wants to go sailing or just enjoy a good time in Austin!

My girlfriends chartered with Cap’n Tim for my bachelorette party. Everything was absolutely perfect!! The boat was pristine, Cap’n Tim was wonderful, and we all had SUCH a fabulous time. Bonus: Cap’n Tim took pictures for us during the whole trip, it was amazing. HIGHLY recommend!!

We sailed with Capt. Tim for a big family event and it was amazing! We had 11 people in our party for a 4-hour sunset cruise on Lake Travis and it exceeded my expectations. Way more fun and entertaining than a party barge. 🙂 It’s a surprisingly large boat, so there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. And despite the heat we were comfortable between the wind and the covered top– and of course the water. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to anchor and swim. Captain Tim was wonderful to work with, and even took pictures for us and sent us a DropBox link within a few days. Worth the money for some great memories. I highly recommend!

We had a perfect evening on beautiful Lake Travis with Captain Tim for a bachelorette weekend. The boat is beautiful, the lake is gorgeous, and Captain Tim is a gem. I’ve been on many sailboats where we spend a lot of time motoring, but with Sail Austin, we actually sailed the entire time. We ate great food, drank champagne, listened to fun music over the boat’s sound system, and jumped off the boat to swim and float with Captain Tim’s train of pool noodles. I get motion sick easily and Captain Tim even had some essential oils to give me to help with some brief queasiness while we were sitting on the boat before we started sailing (I’m super sensitive) – it was smooth sailing from there on out! The boat trip was a highlight of our group’s weekend in Austin and I’d highly recommend it to anyone!

What an amazing experience we had on our sunset cruise with Captain Tim! It’s only been a few weeks, but we look at our pictures often to feel that wonderful relaxing feeling again. Nothing like a beautiful sunset cruise on Lake Travis! Captain Tim was a super professional. We had never been sailing before but hope to do so much more often now! Highly recommend!

We had the PERFECT experience on Captain Tim’s boat! There was a group of 8 of us visiting from Chicago and we wanted a getaway from cell phones, offices and all the other bullshit we face on the daily.

From the peacefulness of zipping through the water, to the amazing food (ceviche, guac and chicken salad), to the refreshing dip in the cove to the gorgeous sunset, it couldn’t have been better. If you’re looking to get back to the good life, go pay Tim a visit!

Best present I could have ever given! Truly a unique and memorable experience! I booked a 3 hour charter with Captain Tim for my fiancé’s birthday. I kept it a secret from him and he was so surprised when we got there! I don’t think he stopped smiling once the entire time. We got lucky with a beautiful day, the clouds were gorgeous and had a perfect sunset! The sailboat was stunning, then you see the inside and it’s even more amazing. Captain Tim had everything available that you might need, from plates to the bottle opener. We were allowed to bring our own food and drinks, l also brought a birthday cake along. And by far the nicest thing was Captain Tim took pictures! I find in my family I’m always the one taking the pictures so I’m never in any. It was nice for a change to see myself! Captain Tim made it super easy and sent them to me via drop box the next day. He does this at no extra charge! We can’t wait to go back in the summer and go swimming! Thank you so much Captain Tim for such a wonderful time!

I worked with Captain Tim to plan my boyfriend’s surprise party and it was perfect! He made sure we were prepared ahead of time and we were able to bring our own food, drinks and music! We had a wonderful time swimming and enjoying the sunset. I would recommend to anyone! Try it out – It’ll be an unforgettable experience! 🙂
