Lake Travis Reads: The Modern Pioneer Cookbook

We are pleased to announce Mary Bryant Shrader as the 2023 Lake Travis Reads featured author! A self-described “former New York City girl,” Mary discovered the simple life with her husband in the Texas Hill Country. Her debut The Modern Pioneer Cookbook: Nourishing Recipes From a Traditional Foods Kitchen contains over 80 recipes with detailed instructions for teaching traditional “pioneer” cooking techniques such as making bone broth, sourdough bread, and cultured dairy.
All are invited to a conversation with the author and longtime library patron on Wednesday, September 27th at 7pm. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
Lake Travis Reads is a One Book, One Community program whose goal is to bring the Lake Travis communities together through the shared reading and discussion of the works of our favorite authors.
