Located on the banks of Lake Buchanan just 38 miles northwest of Lake Travis, Spider Mountain is home to Texas’ first and only lift-served mountain bike park and the only lift-served, year-round mountain bike park in the U.S.

The first chairlift in Texas provides mountain bikers with 350 vertical feet of gravity fueled fun! From the top, you have the choice of nine trails ranging from beginner to expert to bring you back to the bottom of the lift.

From our green trail Itsy-Bitsy to more aggressive Blue and Black trails, including our North Shore style trail with nine wooden features, Tarantula, you’ll find some fun.

Once you’ve had your fill of gravity-fueled thrills, sample our lake resort amenities just a short walk or spin away at Thunderbird Lodge at Spider Mountain where you’ll find lodging, SUP and boat rentals at our private marina and more.

Eagle View Hiking Trail – For Those Who Like to Hike
Spider Mountain Bike Park is excited to announce that we have opened our first ever dedicated hiking trail.

This .65 mile out and back trail, which covers 330 ft in elevation, is closed to bikes.

Scenic lift passes are $10, making this trail the perfect option for those who would like to experience Spider Mountain’s natural beauty, but aren’t ready or able to hop on a mountain bike.

Come experience stunning vistas of the Texas hill country and Lake Buchanan from Texas’ only lift-accessed hiking trail!

  1. Easy to find, nice ski lift with basically no wait and the bike shop got my tire replaced quickly. I’d recommend this place for anyone who loves to bike!

  2. I really liked this bike park, which has a lift to take you to the top. The trails are well-designed, and live up to their ratings. Signage is good, and I never ended up on a trail that I didn’t want to be on. I was there on a Sunday, and I never had to wait in a line. There is food and beer at the bottom.

  3. We went to Spider Mountain for the first time this past weekend and will definitely be coming back. I’ve never ridden a bike park before so we signed up for a lesson online before we arrived. Ken, our instructor, met us at the bike shop at 9am and showed us through the skills park where we practiced some basic maneuvers/tips and then showed us how to load our bikes on the chair lift. We took itsy bitsy together and Ken gave us some beginner pointers the entire time. We rode the mountain all afternoon and met some cool people along the way. All the employees at the bike shop and chair lift operators were very friendly and helpful. If you’re a beginner I’d recommend renting knee/elbow pads and a full face helmet which I’m glad we did. The parking lot is very close to the base of the chairlift so you can ride your bike to your car for a water/snack break whenever you want which is convenient.

  4. If you love mountain bike single track trails and downhill runs, this place is for you. No need to huff it back up the hill. That’s what the chair lift is for. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, is because it can get dangerous real fast. Lots of loose rock and steep turns can reach out to bite you. Wear the appropriate safety equipment and stay off the front brake, otherwise you could end your day with an E.R. visit. Cheers.

  5. I love this place , I have been here since they first opened. Every time I come out to spider mountain ⛰️, I meet new and awesome people. I have met and rode with people from all over the country and even from England . Great times , Amazing staff, Good times never had any issues and I will always be here riding

  6. A great place to spend the day mountain biking. Don’t bring an XC bike though. Minimum should be a trail bike but if you can, an Enduro or Downhill would be best. Trails range from beginner to double black. A relatively new addition is a double black drop right under the ski lift. Very cool!

  7. Lift ride mountain biking in Texas!! Year round amines to be had here. You can rent equipment if you don’t have the full set up. Trails range from beginner to expert. Great visit and can’t wait to return.

  8. This was my first time at a downhill park, traditionally a XC mountain biker but I had a great time.

Lift was quick, with little line. The trails were well kept and fun.

Recommend buying ticket online because the walk in price is a flat $59. If you pay online it can range anywhere from $25-$49 depending on how many tickets are sold that day.

I paid $29 to go but the day of it was canceled due to weather. Spider Bike Park easily allowed me to redeem it at a date of my choosing. Great customer service.

  9. Great times, worth the 4 hour drive. Greens and blues test your skills, black can be tough, I got down on two features, but next time I’ll get them.

  10. I was in Austin visiting my cousin and we decided to go here and it’s one of the best decisions! We booked a cabin in the resort which costed us just 53$! And this included 2 lift tickets. The bike we rented were trek slash 8 and they were in mint condition. As we visited the park on a weekday, the park was relatively empty and we could manage multiple runs down the mountain. People were friendly, no complications, and we absolutely loved it!

  11. AWESOME!!!!
I went two weeks ago, and HAD to return the very next weekend.
I am a novice rider at best. Even so, I enjoyed Sticky Icky, all the way down to itsy bitsy.
My favorite trail run started on Viper to Tarantula and ending on Venom!!!

    Tip:
Book the spider mountain lodge, and get 2 lift tickets.
I didn’t know that and booked other arrangements separately.

    The employees are really helpful.
They have a fully stocked shop with all the gear you may want to buy (or rent)

Even better, they have an AIR CONDITIONED, 3 door, bathroom trailer.
When it’s 108* and you gotta go….. AC is all I should have to say. Lol

Having the time of your life is a given.

  12. I’ve been here twice so far and the staff has been kind and very helpful. This is the definition of the small resort feel and has been a wonderful experience. Steve and Andy’s lesson really helped improve my biking experience, but everyone at the bike shop and store helped contribute to the amazing experience. And then the trails themselves are a wonderful variety and mostly all in the shade, a great place to bike in Central Texas.

  13. Had a great time in the only bike lift in Texas. Was not sure how I would like it as I am not a jumper, but the Green and Blue trails were a lot of fun. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

  14. This place is so awesome!! Take the bike lift to the top of the hill and pick the trail of your choice coming down! There are all levels, don’t stress if this is your first time! Take Itsy Bitsy down. You’ll enjoy it and it still has fun curves and jumps! You can buy a day pass or a season pass. You want to have a decent bike, helmet, and some type of eye protection. No fee to park! Bring your own water!

  15. This review took a year to make. Every time I visit spider mountain the staff is friendly, professional and that is important to me. It’s awesome they offer the only lift served biking in Texas, they offer rental bikes in many different sizes, rental body protection such as helmets, knee and elbow pads. First Aid staff is awesome, especially when my good friend broke his collarbone. With that being said, don’t let this place scare you, this place is great for beginner riders and experienced riders, young and young at heart riders. Would recommend bringing plenty of water, snacks, shade canopy, and great friends. I recommend spider mountain.

  16. Such a great place to ride in Texas. The access roads let you mix up the beginning, middle, and end of the trails to suit your skill level, terrain type, and so on. The staff are all nice and chill. I rode with friends two days in a row in the summer heat, and this is the only place I feel you can do that in Texas without keeling over from dehydration. I’ll definitely drive 4 hours out here in the future!

  17. Fantastic park to expand your skillset
    Great / friendly staff
Supplies on site and medical team
    -gloves/helmets/clothing/snacks
Good list of food items for healthy/carb minded from the food truck, pic below.
    Shaded Picnic area

Be sure to buy tickets online, buying on-site is more expensive.
    MILITARY DISCOUNT: 15%

Be careful of blues here, the jump in skill is pretty wide and will catch you if you are not ready for it.

  18. Excellent! On a scale of one to ten, this is a definite THUMBS UP!!! We rode open to close all day our 1st time here. Several small mishaps and repairs met by the staff with a “No worries, we got you.” Office staff, lift operators, trail patrol, and visitors all super friendly and encouraging. Bring lunch, snacks, drinks, it’s about 20 minutes back to Burnet for a reliably open eatery or store. We will be back, we will send friends, we will recommend to anyone!!!

  19. Gnarly downhill biking. Always a great time biking here. Their trails are amazing, well maintained, and ever growing. I visit once every couple months and always pleased to see new trails being added.

  20. Fun downhill MTB park near Austin. Came here during the MLK weekend.

The mountain: The “mountain” is really a hill with about 350 feet of elevation and is served by a lift that takes you up there. The lift is very slow, and the way they have you hang your bike is quite cumbersome and not as convenient as the way most bike parks have you hang it. Resulting in some people barely getting their bikes on in time. Taking a star away for this one.

The trails: they mostly have green and blue trails with a black and a double black. The runs range from tight, twisty, and chunky to fast with jumps and wood features. The black runs are very steep and chunky so you may need to walk a few sections there. Vipers Den was a personal favorite.

Amenities: This place is quite bare when it comes to amenities. There is a small gear and gift shop at the ticket office, and only a single food truck with limited options. They really need to build on the amenities here as they’re very bare bones. The restrooms are nice though for being a trailer. You can also stay at thunderbird lodge in a cabin by the lake down the way from the park.

All in all, I had a lot of fun still and will be back.

  21. A lot of fun. I rented a bike and a helmet. I will probably bring my bike next time and buy a full face helmet. Better safe than sorry. I ate a burrito bowl at the taco truck and it was probably the worst burrito bowl I’ve ever had. I will prepare better next time. The rice was still hard and not great. No waits in line on a Friday. Loved my time there. The bike was a Rocky Mountain Altitude and it had a dropper post and was great. There were crews raking the course. I was very impressed.

  22. Fun. That is simply the best description I can give. Get tickets several weeks out to save some money on website. A little tricky to load your bike on chairs, just ask for help or tips from others. Trails are well marked at top and other entrances. Some flow , some nasty drops, some rough rocky spots. Good trailer food at base. Water at top and bottom.

  23. Amazing experience!!! I did fell twice but was well equipped for safety! So all good! I recommend to stay on green routes for begginners. Not all can do blue routes so watch out. Always do first round very slowly so you know for the second lap what you are up to and can speed up a little more. Restrooms were very nice actually and surprised me! The bike I had for a rental was a very good one with great suspension on front and back. And some big wheels too! Recommend 100% for adrenaline seekers!

  24. Lift assist bike park deep in the heart of Texas. Friendly staff. Bought my ticket online and the check in was super easy. Trails are short but they make great use of the elevation. When I was there the lift lines were very short so I was able to get in plenty of laps. To my surprise they even had a food truck on site with excellent tacos.
