  1. Poodies is great. Lots of history all over the walls and fantastic hamburgers. I recommend the Poodie Burger with fries and a cold beer. Service is fast and friendly. Huge outdoor area as well and really great music all the time.

  2. This is definitely a place to go!! We had left the exotic animal park and needed a bite, so we just googled, and this came up. We got there about 1pm. When we pulled up we weren’t sure if it was open. But we peeked in and there were a couple people in there and it’s a bar, but read the history on it. We went in and ordered our meals and they were terrific. One of our group had dietary restrictions and they were great with it. This will now be my go-to place whenever I am in the area.

  3. Whether a local or just dropping in, can’t be beat for its hospitality and great music. A definite must for those who enjoy live music just about any night of the week!

  4. Excellent roadside find! The food, drinks, service, live music, and overall vibe was incredible. Swung by to just grab a bite to eat and started for several hours enjoying.

Highly recommend the Poodie Burger. It’s for a great kick with the spice. Seriously good if you enjoy a great burger.

Well done to the owners and staff. Will definitely be back.

  5. Finally a true honky tonk in texas my first time and went with a performer who played on that famous stage. Had the wings which were amazing

  6. Had not been here for a long time. It’s not that I don’t like the place but I live in north Austin got you about 25 or 30 miles from my house. After all these years they still have some of the best burgers in town. Stopped there on my way back from Marble Falls to have lunch. The bartender was very friendly and nice. Ended up getting a Poodie melt with fries. One of the best I’ve ever had! Just a few regulars in the place early in the afternoon but I’m sure it’s jamming tonight with some live music and it’s a great outdoor deck. Almost makes me want to move out to Spicewood so I can go there on a regular basis. One of my best friends loved the place and used to go out there all the time. He used to be friends with the original owner Poodie Locke. Don’t miss it if you’re out that way!

  7. Neat little country place. Have not been while it’s busy, but definitely a place to shoot pool, grab a bite/drink, admire the decor, watch the sunset off of the deck or hang out outdoors

  8. Hidden gem. The food is great and the atmosphere is even better.

  9. Loved meeting Brooks and his shared stories. Club sub was great and Poodies burger was the best burger, ever. Highly highly recommend.

  10. Great place for live music, and looking at some of the history of Poodie Locke. If you’re lucky enough Willie might just stop in. Old school roadhouse bar that hasn’t changed its style over the years. Mixed crowd from old to young.

  11. Classic joint; live music is phenomenal; service is phenomenal; clientele is phenomenal; Lori took great care of our table; the place where “everyone knows your name”; highly recommended

  12. What a fun place. There was a live band playing classic rock with a few original songs mixed in. Our group of 5 adults had a blast playing pool and enjoying cocktails with the live music. The staff are lively and the overall atmosphere is great. There’s a large covered outdoor patio that made getting away from the noise easy without feeling isolated. I would definitely come back for drinks next time I’m in the area.

  13. The wife and I were in Austin, and stopped by and saw Taylor Graves and the Tombstone Trio play! My brother plays the bass in the band. Cool place, had a good time! Great band! Lots of Willie Nelson pictures

    Denis G. , 2 years ago
  14. This place is very friendly. The service was good and friendly The first time I went with the band that night. The was rocken got the people in to the music good night.

  15. A must stop in Spicewood! Obviously, the local Roadhouse and live music venue, great for mid-day all the way into late night. Unexpected is that it’s a great place for lunch, and honestly the best salads in Spicewood! Large, fresh, with great options, and very reasonably priced. The sandwiches are all fantastic, with my favorite being the chicken Philly, but don’t miss the Poodie Burger if you’re hungry.

    Taylor H. , 2 years ago
  16. Great atmosphere with dance area in front of the inside stage. There most likely will be a cover charge even if you are only eating dinner there and didn’t technically come for the live music! The Poodie melt was amazing and the sweet potato fries were great too! Lots of outside seating too. Bathroom was clean and staff was friendly.

    Lisa L. , 2 years ago
  17. Best honky tonk in Austin. I hesitate to review it because I don’t want it to become like the others. Great bands, no frills, super friendly service. Don’t miss the Pearl Snaps!

  18. Our first time here as we’re from Minnesota. We loved the atmosphere along with the music. Such a vibrant location. We all had food and it was tasty. Typical bar food although better than most. Our bartender was fair. She definitely had a light pour for all liquor (I’m a former bartender so I know pours extremely well). We opted for beer after a couple of rounds…so just a heads up on that. We’ll be back….

  19. A great bar and amazing live music. Good drinks that won’t break the bank and a fun atmosphere

    Beau H. , 2 years ago
  20. It is one of the greatest music venues of all time! Great burgers too! New patio is so nice!

    Bede R. , 2 years ago
  21. This place is awesome. The atmosphere is super inviting and Texas hill country. The food is delicious the beer is cold and cheap. The music is always fantastic, the view from the deck is amazing. The bartenders are super nice and attentive to the crowd. I highly suggest people to come here and support local music!

  22. Great service.
Old school Texas bar with an indoor and outdoor music venue.

  23. Poodies is a gem of Spicewood!! Lots of musical history with good food and drink choices. A variety of musical performances almost any day of the week!

    Anita B. , 3 years ago
  24. Great down to earth bar, had the best burger I have had in a long time, has great live music and they make you feel welcome at this local bar..

    Cheryl F. , 3 years ago
  25. The service and food were great. I recommend the Poodie burger, the green chilies were delicious. The server was running the entire front on his own with a friendly smile. Great place, great food, great people.

    Diane B. , 3 years ago
  26. What a fantastic venue!! Live music and family! It’s been a long while and we loved our time here. Friendly Team and great beer! Can’t wait to come back.

    Chris G. , 3 years ago
  27. They changed the menu a little bit and the food is better than it was before. I always get a salad and it was very fresh and crisp and the grilled chicken was perfectly cooked and sliced up. Service is always good. And the music is the reason I really go and it was good.

    Patrice A. , 3 years ago
  28. It’s a roadhouse, with lots of cold beer, live music and an ornery crowd. We were there on a Sunday afternoon before the band and it was pretty bare, but friendly folks nonetheless.

    Rob H. , 3 years ago
  29. One of the greatest bars I’ve ever been to. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible and the music. Oh, the music! On any given day you can see major Austin stars at this venue. I recommend it for everyone and it is family friendly during the week.

    Casey E. , 3 years ago
  30. My Cousins and I were in town visiting from Atlanta and we decided to check this place out! Very nice, layed back and super friendly staff! Loved all the decorations they had out for Halloween! Very cool! Really nice area out back! Wish we had more time to hang out but it was fun while it lasted. The live music was a huge plus too! Keep up the great work guys!

    Brandi P. , 3 years ago
  31. Roadhouse with folklore of Outlaw Country and Americana with an atmosphere that reflects its storied tradition. All the names of Texas Country legend have passed through, Willie Nelson has several chapters in their story. The bartenders are always friendly and the patrons are good company. I would love a better bourbon selection. But I will tolerate their bourbon for the rest of the experience.

    stephen g. , 3 years ago
  32. The owner at Iron Wolf recommended this place to us for our Bachelorette group and we decided to try it out. Place was pretty cool, had plenty of seating inside and out, the bartenders were very patient and great with us. The food came out quick and the burgers were delicious, full of flavor and fresh. We enjoyed ourselves.

    Relii C. , 3 years ago
  33. What a FUN place!! We were in town for work and decided to give it a try! Poodieville was by far the BEST time we have ever had!!! We’re in our early 50’s and have been to many places and decided this is our all-time FAVORITE!! The owner was so friendly and made you feel like part of the hometown crowd!!! We will be back!!!

    Hayley P. , 4 years ago
  34. Absolutely delicious!! I had the *Poodie Impossible Burger, chips and salsa, and a Manhattan! Hands down best vegan burger I’ve had prepared! Adding *Poodie (signature hatch green chili mix) to the burger is what made it unique! The bartender is a badass and I loved the dive bar vibes! There wasn’t a band when I went, but the venue setup is inviting, the inside bar area opens to the back courtyard. I would definitely check out a band here!

    Jennifer W. , 4 years ago
  35. This place is badass! Great vibe, live music and the food was freaking splendid. I had, of all things, the salad with grilled chicken. It was huge and delicious.

    Matt R. , 4 years ago
  36. My first time to Spicewood this is a place you must go! Live bands with awesome music its an atmosphere like no other! I got to hear Ru Coleman and WC Clark in one location…now that’s good music! Looking for a good time this is the place to be!

    Antarea C. , 4 years ago
  37. A legendary local live music hangout. Ice cold beer, awesome burgers and good friends. It doesn’t get any better than this. (Dog friendly outside patio)

    Mark S. , 4 years ago
  38. Poodies is still the best roadhouse around. If you love the blues, check out Alan Haynes on Thursday nights. Good food, great drinks and music that touches the soul. Good times!

Pete Peterson , 4 years ago
  39. Love Poodies and staff…

  40. We had a great time !! You can always be yourself at poodies !! One of a kind

    Vicki K. , 5 years ago
  41. Poodies green chile burger is one of the best I’ve ever had. And my family and friends consider me a cheeseburger connoisseur. With that being said, it wasn’t too spicy, just right. The 1/3 pound patty is made with pure black angus beef. It was so good, I ordered another one.

    Steven , 5 years ago
  42. It’s a nice place

Ken Fitzgerald Kistner , 5 years ago
  43. Great Texas roadside bar, as genuine as they come. Great burgers with your beers, and if it’s a Saturday night likely live music. Enjoy!

    Kevin M. , 6 years ago
  44. What a great time like always at Poodies. The stuff was fast and professional like always, the crowd was so thrilled to be there listening to Carl Hutchinson and the band and the band played songs that made everyone have such a great time and it was so much fun for everyone. The food was outstanding, serving up some of the best burgers and shrimp baskets. Sharon Burke the owner does everything over the top compared to any place I have ever been to for a truly great time on a Saturday afternoon and early evening. On a scale of 1 to 10, honestly it was every bit of 12. Thank you all for making it another great time at Poodies Hilltop Roadhouse in Spicewood, Texas.

  45. I’ve been to Poodie’s a couple of times, and it never disappoints. Even if there is no live music going on, your barman Beaver is worth the trip. So sharp and fast, so sweet and funny, I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home 🙂 I don’t know how he puts so much energy into his “work,” but he actually seems to enjoy it, and he gets a kick out of making people laugh and smile. Go, Beaver! No Bad Days — or Nights!!!!

    Holly J. , 7 years ago
  46. Just great. Local bar with music every night, great people, great bar staff, and a truly fantastic interior. This is Texas at its best. Never had the food, beer and music all in.

    K B. , 7 years ago
  47. Absolutely loved it here!! Perfect little “hole in the wall” bar to have a great time at!!! Plus Willie Nelson loves it there soo yeah there’s that!! lol . Me & my friends will stop by every time we are in the area from now on!! Ps, the philly cheese steak sandwich is a must have!!!

    Daniella G. , 7 years ago
  48. Love love love this place!!! The gals behind the bar were very accommodating! Made a drink they were experimenting with and I fell in love!!! Food was GREAT for it being a bar. Love it!! $7 cover was worth it cuz the music was actually good!!! I work in Spicewood a lot and it’s great to have found this little place for when I’m wanting some good comfort food and a ice cold beverage. Definitely will be back, hopefully for sunset on their cute deck overlooking the hills!!!

    Carly T. , 7 years ago
  49. What is a dive-bar doing amongst all these BMW’s & Cadillacs? Spicewood is full of wealthy Texan property owners, and poor trailer-trash just passing thru the hills. Luckily; Poodie’s is here on top of the hill to quench the thirst of us white-trash travellers.

The food is better than you expect in a dive; try the CFS sandwich or any burger! Comes w chips, but you can opt for fries if you feel fancy. But fancy folks don’t really fit in here!

Brooks (bartender) limits each drinker to only one double, but there is no limit on singles. Even has a dance floor if you feel frisky! Love it!

    Rick B. , 7 years ago
  50. The legendary Poodie’s. A trip to Austin or hill country is not complete without a visit here. Great music, friendly people, and way above par food for a bar. A little slice of heaven and an awesome throwback.

    Jennifer W. , 7 years ago
  51. One of the greatest hotdogs I’ve ever had. The burgers are great!! Super great service and I love the shuffleboard tables.

    Shayne R. , 8 years ago
  52. This might be weird to say. But the turkey and cheese sandwich here might be the greatest sandwich I’ve ever had (sorry mom). It comes on Texas toast and is amazing. I stopped by after doing some hiking to grab a cold beer and wasn’t expecting much from the food. But it definitely proved me wrong. Definitely check it out if you are in the area.

    Ryan F. , 8 years ago
  53. Best burgers in Spicewood. Best live music in the Hill Country. No better place on a Saturday nite. Wore my boots out !
