These people do everything to make it for people like us to enjoy ourselves and I, for one, appreciate it. So did our friends and kids.

Deckhands are great. Intermittent trolley service not so much: pack as though you hike uphill and stay safe, y’all!

We have been members about a month but everything has been going great. We were worried about boat availability but so far we have been able to get out when we wanted. We have a young child so we aim for mornings and have never had a issue booking wise.

The trainer Max was awesome and took me through things I was comfortable already and spent more time when I asked for docking etc. He was great and I feel a lot more comfortable on Lake Travis now.

We’ve been members for about 6 months and used both the Lake Travis and Lake Austin facilities. The folks at Freedom Boat Club are always fantastic. From helping us get started with training, patient explanations and tips for pleasure boating, we’ve loved the experience and would highly recommend it.

We show up, the boat is gased and ready, we drop it off and there is someone there to get you into the slip and help you off. Even if you only go out once or twice a month for a few hours, they have membership options that make sense and cost less that renting at one of the day rental places. One of the best things about freedom is
the selection of quality boats available, that, along with the people was what really made us decide in the first place. Now, 6 months later, we’ve been out a dozen times or so, never had problems getting reservations, never had problems with any of the boats, it’s been a great experience: thus the 5* review!

One of the added benefits which I didn’t even factor in was the ability to rent at other destinations with the local membership. We’re going to vacation in Florida, and Bill, the owner of the local chapter is helping us get setup with a rental at our vacation destination also .. and it’s all part of the local membership cost.

We are Freedom Boat Club members on Cape Cod in MA and were coming home to Austin for SXSW. We knew it would be fun to take our friends for a ride. The day was spectacular Austin – 80+, sunny, no wind for a glass ride!

The pre-planning was handled via my local club who emails the Austin owner about the reciprocal boat use. As a member you have unlimited use of the fleet at your local club (mine has 5 locations). You are also provided 4 annual ‘rides’ at any of the 62 clubs around the country (mostly are on the east coast and Florida). Once we hit Austin I was in direct contact with the mgr and dock personnel. All were GREAT!

They even provided one of their newest boat for our use, a 26′ Regal complete with wake board, iPhone hook-up for awesome tunes, newest GPS tech, cooler, etc. The boat was spotless.

The best part of Freedom Boat Club is the rental car aspect. Arrive and go! Return and split! It’s that easy. No hasstle, multiple boat styles, no cleaning, trailering, slip rental, insurance, fees, maintainence. It is the only way we’d want to go boating.

There are some businesses I just don’t think to yelp about. I’m typically hitting all the obvious places like my landscaper, favorite move theater, and eateries, However, it dawned on me that I should be yelping about one of my absolute favorite businesses in Austin, Freedom Boat Club.

For those, like me a few years ago, that don’t know what a boat club is allow me to explain. A boat club is a subscription based club that gives you access to a fleet of boats. It’s an amazing alternative to boat ownership. You don’t pay for the boat, the slip, the detailing, the licensing, etc…

Freedom is awesome. I go online and reserve the boat and day I want to hit the water. If I want a leisure ride with 10 of my best friends I’ll go with a pontoon on Lake Travis. If I want to go tubing on Lake Austin I’ll choose a speedier boat. I show up at the designated time, the boat is already clean, fueled up, and ready to go. There is always a friendly staff member at the dock to assist any needs and answer any questions.

Freedom Boat Club has become one of our favorite things about Austin. When friends and family come to visit the first thing we do is take them to Hula Hut or Ski Shores on the boat. No trailer, no fueling up, no cleaning. We just show up and go. It is absolutely fantastic.

Freedom Boat Club has been a great experience so far. The availability of boats is better than I anticipated and the staff is great. I appreciate the flexibility they have in certain situations. I feel this is a great way to get started with boating and we definitely see a big financial difference compared to our friends who own their boat. There is a boat or two that probably needs to be retired from the fleet but it will happen in due time.
