The Spade Series: Commonly Used Conventions. This course is the fourth in a series of five sets of lessons. It is for students who already have a solid foundation in Standard American bidding. Topics include the Stayman Convention, Jacoby Transfers, Jacoby 2NT, Drury, Reverses, Fourth Suit Forcing, Weak Twos and Strong 2 Club Openers.

This is an 8 week consecutive class. Scott is well known for his ability to instruct the game of bridge in a fun and informative way, and he is in high demand for instruction on several Cruise Lines.

This classic card game is perfect for players of all ages, and it’s a great way to test your skills and strategy. Plus, it’s a great way to stay sharp and keep your mind active. If you have always wanted to learn to play bridge, now is your chance! Purchase of a bridge book could be required, details to be provide the first day of class by instructor.

All classes will be held at the Lakeway Activity Center from 12:00PM-2:00pm on Tuesdays, October 1st – November 26th. No class on November 5th.

Guest Lecturer on October 8: Rebecca Brown
Rebecca Brown is a certified bridge teacher and ACBL club director. For many years, she has volunteered her time to the ACBL, including key governance positions. Rebecca currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Texas Capitol Bridge Association (Unit 207, Austin Area Bridge) and as the National Chairperson of the ACBL Charity Committee. Rebecca also works with the ACBL National Recorder, managing all disciplinary cases. She has held several important positions for District 16 (most of Texas and all of Mexico). Including two years as past president. For all of her excellent service, Rebecca was honored with the Jacoby Award, the top award for recognition of service to District 16. Rebecca is currently the director-elect for Region 9 of the national board of directors. Beginning January 1, she will represent Districts 15 (Oklahoma, Kansas, Amarillo, northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri) and 16 on the national board.
