Mike Kern – Owner/Captain
Capt. Mike was raised in Galveston, Texas where he spent most of his time water skiing and fishing. He comes from a long line of merchant mariners. Capt. Mike was previously a SWAT officer in Texas City, Texas for several years before returning to his family’s maritime roots. His on water expertise include working on harbor tugs out of the Houston/Galveston area.

After buying an older boat and hearing about friend’s experiences with SeaTow, we decided to become members. We’re so glad that we did and recommend them to all of our boating friends. This 4th of July weekend our water pump went out when we were miles from our slip. Their crew made it to our location quickly, and towed us back with ease. Everyone was friendly, honest and easy to work with. We were so grateful for the help this busy weekend.

I have been a member of SeaTow for awhile. The things that really stand out with this company is their reputation, service and nationwide coverage. When I take my boat to other states it’s nice to know I’m covered. Some companies only cover the area you boat on or have very limited service areas. This is a red flag in my experience. Goes back to the old saying “you get what you pay for”.

Knowing SeaTow operators carry insurance that not only covers them but your boat if something was to happen while they are assisting you. Be sure to ask about coverage before handing over the helm to a towing company. I found out most don’t have insurance that covers your boat while they are towing you. That simply means if they damage your boat your not covered. It will be on your insurance. Then you hope they will reimburse you or even worse have to fight to be reimbursed for the damages.

Also SeaTow’s professional captains sure make you feel comfortable in a time of need. With SeaTow you know your in good hands. My suggestion is that if your shopping for a towing company look past the cheap sign up cost and limited coverage areas. How many boaters on Lake Travis saw a towing companies boat crashed into a break wall recently? It confirmed my choice to stay with SeaTow. Happy safe boating..

Unfortunately we’ve had two occasions on Lake Travis to need assistance. Our first experience with Sea-Tow’s competitor was a total disaster. The exceptional service and assistance from Michael and Sea-Tow turned our second distress call into a walk in the park. While we hope we don’t need it we’ve stored Sea-Tow’s number in our iPhones. Based on our experiences they are the ONLY ones to call!
