Live Music: Rudy Villarreal

Rudy Villarreal is an Austin area-based musician, singer, and songwriter. He sings, plays guitar and bass, and is the founding member of the band, Fun Gus & The Shrooms.

When he’s not performing with the band, he performs as a solo artist throughout the Central Texas area. His solo performances can be described as a diverse mix of the ‘MTV Unplugged’ era. He performs creative acoustic versions of the music he loved as a teenager growing up in South Texas, and from his ‘other life’ in Southern California.

Rudy’s solo set covers many eras and genres, which keeps his audience in anxious suspense. From 80’s classics to 90’s – 2000’s pop and alt rock, some of his favorite Texas and Outlaw Country tunes, and his own original music as well. All with a melodic acoustic twist.
