Had a super solid meal here with EXCELLENT service and hospitality. I enjoyed the blackened salmon salad and my friend enjoyed her fried shrimp basic. I ate every last bite of my salad! Yum! The bathrooms were air conditioned and clean.

I absolutely love eating here, especially with the little ones. They can feed the catfish and look at the boats passing on lake Travis. Also the frozen margaritas are so good!

This place personifies lake life. I generally stick to just a handful of items on their menu (sandwiches and the shrimp appetizer), but it has all been really good food, and at a fair price. Most of the time service is solid, though when they get really busy it can be difficult. It’s hard to beat the views from a restaurant that is literally floating on the water. If you have children with you, be sure to save some chips, fries, or bits of bread to toss to the humongous catfish that swarm near the south end of the outdoor patio.
The biggest downside to this place is the incredibly long and steep walk from the parking lot to the restaurant itself. With lake levels being so low, it is a serious hike.

We are here eating dinner and a storm is heading towars us, the owners and waitstaff ushered us all inside so we could be safe as the storm passes over. We come here almost weekly for a dinner meal and these folks take care of us like we are family. Good food, good people and a safe port in a storm…support these folks!

Another great evening at Captain Pete’s! Took extended family with us tonight and everyone had a awesome meal and time.

We loved it when it was the Gar, and we were hesitant to go, but we were pleasantly surprised. Every item was delicious, even better than when it was the Gar. We definitely plan to go back.

Great “vacation” restaurant on a “boat” on Lake Travis. Good food, great service, great views. Oh, and on Sat evening live music too!
You can feed hundreds of hungry catfish!

The wait staff here this summer are killing it. Our waiter Carter was hustling in the heat with a smile on his face! We can hear the live music playing while we tie off the jet skis. Food is tasty and drinks are cold!

We had a nice day on the boat and decided to have lunch here. You can dock and dine. We had three boats. There were 14 of us and they quickly sat us; the waiter was on top of it, and the food was really good. The shrimp tacos are really good, and so is the fried catfish. The margaritas were really good too. Very nice place to eat and overlook the beautiful lake Travis.

There has been a lot off different owners and names of what used to be “shades” back in the day. Captain Pete’s is the best since then! Their food is so delicious and great cocktails when you need a break from the lake and a place to cool off. Bang bang shrimp are a must try and love their pain killers!

Great spot to eat at while at the lake. Service was great. Our bartender/ server Sarah did a great job. Friendly and great customer service. The bacon cheese burger was tasty.

This place is amazing. Great food, great shrimp, you must try the “You Peel em” shrimp. Great vibe as well, lots of cute waitresses, and a boat dock right on the side of the out door patio bar, very cool.

Excellent food and atmosphere, just don’t come if you’re in a hurry. We expected the wait for food because it was very busy, but the staff took good care of us. Beware it is quite a long hunk to get to the resturaunt from parking lot.

were very lucky to miss the rain and to find Captain Pete’s.

We arrived after the lunch rush and we were seated right away. We placed our order with the help of our awesome waiter. He recommendations were spot on.

As we waited for our food to be served, we watched 3 little children as they appeared to bed feeding the ducks. Larry we saw they were feeding hundreds of very large catfish right off the dock!

Be sure to go to the railing on the patio lakeside to see some really huge catfish.

We were also treated to some live music out on the patio. Everything was really clean and the staff was very friendly. They do have inside dining and a bar if you prefer.

We will definitely have lunch with Captain Pete on our next trip to the lake!

Quite an adventure to get there if you are not arriving on boat! Totally worth it! The waitress Paige recommended the Lemon Pepper Wings and those were the BEST wings I’ve ever had! Totally going back!

Catfish was excellent! Great service and atmosphere. Everyone loved their meal.
Right on the water, quite a walk down from the parking area. Beautiful setting. Loved everything about it . Not something I have been to in Michigan for sure.

We enjoyed dining in, the service was excellent. It was a bit scary going down towards the restaurant from the parking lot but it was definitely worth it. The food was great as well. We also got to feed fries to the catfish and we all enjoyed seeing them. Everyone should try this place!

We will definitely be coming back here! It’s such a cute place and so beautiful! The shrimp tacos with bang bang sauce was different than any type of shrimp taco I’d ever had and I LOVED it!! The boathouse burger was also good! I’m not a burger person but I would get that burger! 100% recommend!

It’s a hike from the parking lot and dark if coming at night but the service and food was great. The shrimp tacos were delicious. The salad dressing could have used a bit more flavor but the food was great. The service was on point.

A group of us came here after we ended our boat rental. We all ordered our food to-go as we planned to get an Uber or Lyft back to our rental house in Lago Vista. There were no rides available, so take note of that. Our waitress was so kind to ask her mom to take us home, which the assistant manager ended up giving us all a ride back. They were super friendly and we all enjoyed our food! Everything was delicious! We also really enjoyed the view. We will be back when we are in the area for sure!

A very unique restaurant floating on the water. Friendly staff. Kids can have fun looking at the catfish that hang out around the “patio” and can go buy fish food for them I believe in the little store that is connected to the restaurant. Patio is nice and shaded. Requires a short walk from the parking lot or can bring a boat up to it’s docks.

I had a shrimp platter here. Service was great. Food reasonably priced. Got to feed someones future catfish dinner with my leftover shrimp tails and lettuce! Interesting!

I’ve been here twice – once for lunch and dinner. The food is awesome! The fried chicken sandwich is huge and made from scratch, the grilled catfish tacos are extremely flavorful, and the fries are the best – handcut and perfectly seasoned and crispy! Drinks are cold, service is great, and it’s alway great to be on the lake.

We had lunch here on 09.09.22 while visiting from Florida. The ceviche and the fried shrimp were delicious! Our server did such an amazing job too! It was nice meeting Captain Pete when he checked up on us. Feeding the minimal leftovers to the catfish was something else! We’d definitely eat here again!

Noticed the reviews were not as high as expected but we wanted to see for our selves. We took some friends there on our boat. As soon as we pulled up on our boat to the dock a couple of kids that worked there met us and immediately helped us tied up our boat to the dock. Super helpful! Our waitress was very nice, we ordered some great drinks and appetizers that came out immediately. The drinks and food were outstanding!! Very impressed and we will definitely be back for more. So happy we checked it out. This place is definitely setting up for some great service and outstanding food! We’ll be back for sure.

We used to boat here when it was Gnarly Gar. It was decent then. It is even better now. We always sit outside, and even though it was over 100, the breeze and fans made it great. The food was better than Gnarly, except they did not have sweet potato fries. Thats the missing star. The margaritas were much much better than the Gnarly Gar. I read reports about poor service, but on Sunday about 1130 am our service was outstanding. The big catfish are still there if you want to feed them. Also they have marina gas around the corner. Get the shrimp appetizer, you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent! Beautiful setting on Lake Travis with ample outdoor and indoor seating. One of the best carrot cakes I’ve ever had! They also offer a vegetarian beyond burger patty for substitution on any of their menu burgers. It was delicious. Others in our party were raving about the fried catfish plate and the captain sauce. Their fries were noteworthy. Hand cut, extra crispy, and well seasoned. On a nice day, would be worth the trip to point venture just to eat here and enjoy the deck.

Great place on the water! Food is much improved over the previous establishment. Yeah it was a little slow the first time because it was their soft open but we got a table quickly on a Friday evening our second visit.
