The Jenkins team helped us with the design of our Lake Home. We thought we knew what we wanted and came in with a sketch of the layout. However, what we found out right away was that there is an art and a science to understanding both the site itself (the views and shape of the lot itself) and how we will use the home on an everyday basis. We initially underestimated the importance of this. They assessed both of these things by asking lots of questions about who would be visiting and how long guests will stay, etc. They also explained the dimension of the spaces as the design developed so that we could visualize and understand why those spaces would accomplish the objectives we had for the home. There were also a number of features that we didn’t even consider because we didn’t know they existed! They brought in several of those to our design which are absolutely going to make all the difference in the look and feel of the home! We are so grateful for their expertise and knowledge and are so excited to build our lake home! Thanks to the Jenkins team, it’s going to be great!

Jenkins’s Custom Home built our home several years ago and at our request recently completed a renovation. We are absolutely thrilled with the results. The wine room that was added to our home looks like it was designed and built during the initial construction of the home. There also wasn’t much impact on us during the construction of the wine room. They are a very professional company who kept us informed throughout the process.

What a pleasure it has been to build a house with Jenkins. We enjoyed going through this process—even when I was stressed out, they were all incredibly patient and reassuring. The result is a fabulous manifestation of our heart’s desire. We have enjoyed weekends in Horseshoe Bay with our college kids and their friends. It is very comfortable. We hosted 11 for Thanksgiving and the kitchen functioned like a dream! The working bar and eating/serving bar concept was awesome, and the taller height prevented the dogs from partaking in the feast! Thank you to the whole team at Jenkins for delivering a beautiful product, with excellent craftsmanship. I highly recommend Jenkins Custom Builders!

In 2003 we had sold our home in Austin and were looking for a custom home builder to build on our lot in Henly. After talking to several builders and observing their work, we chose Jenkins Custom Homes because of the attention to detail and personal investment we thought Shan would put into our home. We were not disappointed, he treated our build as if it were his own.
One of the things Shan told us, that has stuck with me through all of those years is; that he wanted to be the builder that if he ever ran into you in the grocery store or anywhere, he would stop and talk because of the quality home he build you, not hiding behind the food aisle because he built you a poor quality home.
Over the years we have run into Shan and Bethany and they always stop and say hello. Shan will stop by the house from time to time to see how things are going. A few weeks ago we ran into Shan in H.E.B. and had a long conversation about the quality home he had build us 15 years ago and how pleased we had been with the workmanship. We told him we had decided a few years back to update the bathrooms and kitchen. The contractor was amazed at how solid the bathrooms and kitchen were. Our house was the first home he had ever remodeled that didn’t have mold or some other issues. He had even told us before he started the remodel, that there would be “issues” he would have to repair in order to do the remodel right, and for us to expect it. He had even added time and money for such issues. None of those “issues” were found. We were sure pleased to know what we had expected all these years that we had in fact, chose the right builder 15 years ago.

My wife and I started planning our retirement in 2007, about 10 years before we actually retired. It started with finding the right lot…location location location, as they say. Then we turned to finding the right builder to help us put our retirement dreams into action. We interviewed six builders in the Austin area. We talked with them and visited their built homes. After about a month or two we finally decided on Jenkins Custom Homes. JCH was the only builder that had the passion and quality for which we were looking. In fact the only reason it took anytime at all is that JCH wasn’t the cheapest option and we were worried how they would build a home at our price level. As it turned out, Shan was very straight forward with the cost. After a plan was made he gave us a base cost, with all the specs, and told us it wouldn’t vary much from this…unless we wanted more/better…we of course did. So, although it cost more than that first number, it was because we wanted so many upgrades. When it came to upgrades, JCH have people who did the research and gave us very accurate price estimates for each change order that we could approve or not. All this is to say we knew all along the way how much the final number was going to be…no big surprises at the end. Another reason we chose JCH was that Shan had a civil engineering background. Our house was going to be on a slope/cliff and his civil engineering background eased our worries on the foundation for our house.

The architect, superintendent, and Shan also met with us on our lot to discuss various things like slope, setback, and house location and angle on the lot. In fact one of the best decisions made was the angle of the house on the lot. The architect plotted our plan on the lot survey and its relation to the various views we have, so we could maximize our views by turning the house just 10 degrees from parallel with the lot lines. When people come to our house it’s one of the first things they notice…the extra view we got from that decision. All of this is to say that JCH takes their job very seriously and looks at every detail. We have had many people tell us that the quality of our house is great. One friend, who just moved to California, said that the quality JCH built into our house was better than anything he was looking for in 7 years in California.

Working with Bethany and Shan and their team was great. We immediately felt like family. The first step was the design meeting (Lifestyle Analysis). We sat down with Shan, Bethany and various team members to talk about how we wanted to live in this house. This process was critical and never stopped for my wife and me. We were in constant communication with our Superintendent, Skyler, about what-if scenarios. We literally lived in our house on paper throughout the process. By the time we moved in, it was if we actually had lived here already. In fact, every detail in our house was designed for very specific reasons/uses. Now over a year later, the house has performed exactly like we hoped it would. We have had many family get-togethers, church retreats, parties, and even our youngest daughter’s wedding in this house. The JCH team has already helped make our retirement dream a reality.

After interviewing several custom home builders and several remodeling companies we chose Jenkins to remodel our lake house. We searched open lots and pre-existing homes all over Lake Travis and Lake Austin to find the perfect spot for our family. We finally decided on a great location that had two homes for sale right next to each other. We couldn’t decide which home would be best for a remodel so Shan and his team visited both properties to help us decide. Jenkins did this knowing that we hadn’t decided on a builder yet. They were one of the only builders that we interviewed willing to walk the properties and give us real ideas on how the homes could be remodeled to meet our needs. They also took us to several of their past builds and had us visit with their past clients. They have done a tremendous job with our extensive remodel and have built us a beautiful pool and deck to go along with it. They gave us suggestions along the way to help make the house have the details that one would expect. They are always willing to spend time with us for walkthroughs or office meetings to review plans. They are responsive to all our needs and go the extra mile to make sure we are taken care of. On top of this they have a very useful client website that allows us to follow the construction from our computers or phones. We do not live in the area so this makes it easy for us when we cannot travel to see the progress. It also makes it fun for friends and family to experience the build as well. We know others in the Austin area that have gone with their competitors and have compared notes through the construction. Although others also supply a beautiful product we believe Jenkins supplies the least amount of headaches to go along with it. After reviewing notes we knew our choice on Jenkins was the right one. We highly recommend Jenkins Custom Homes for any high end project.

Just like so many others, we are really happy with our Jenkins home. There are so many details in both the design and finish-out that make our home amazing. When we made the decision to go with Jenkins, we knew it was an investment. What we didn’t know is that it would return so fast – before we even moved in, we had built-in equity.
