Now entering its fourteenth year, LAKE TRAVIS READS 2021 will feature the new book by acclaimed author Lisa Wingate, “The Book of Lost Friends.”
An instant New York Times bestseller, “The Book of Lost Friends” was inspired by real-life “Lost Friends” ads, through which families separated during slavery sought to find their lost loved ones after the Civil War. The story follows an unlikely trio of girls as they embark on a perilous journey through reconstruction Louisiana and Texas … and a modern-day teacher who rediscovers their story.
Wingate is a former journalist, inspirational speaker, and award-winning author of more than twenty novels. Her 2017 historical novel “Before We Were Yours,” centered around true events involving the Tennessee Children’s Home Society, has sold over three million copies.
LAKE TRAVIS READS is a “One Book, One Community” program co-sponsored by Bee Cave Public Library, Lake Travis Community Library, and Spicewood Community Library.
Copies of The Book of Lost Friends are available for checkout in a variety of formats including print, audio, and digital.
The community is invited to hear Wingate speak at an “Evening with the Author” via Zoom on Wednesday, March 10th at 7pm.
