Moscato Secco 2018 – We´ll start in the northwest with Piedmont. Piedmont is known for Moscato d’ Asti, a sweet and bubbly Moscato. We prefer this dry, still version for a pre-dinner afternoon snack. Speaking of snacks, Piedmont is also known for the the Tonda Gentile Trilobata, or the Piedmont Hazelnut, one of the most prized hazelnut varieties. Grab a bowl of toasted hazelnuts and settle in with a glass of Moscato Secco to watch the sunset.
Reserve Pinot Grigio 2019 – Heading east we arrive in Lombardy and further east into Alto Adige & Veneto home of Pinot Grigio. The proximity of these regions to Germany, Austria and the mountinous Dolomites are evident in the food. Here you will find rich egg based pastas (and spätzles) and a variety of cheeses from briny Stilfser to nutty Gruyere. Explore some new cheeses with a glass of Pinot Grigio or cook up some stuffed ravioli or spätzle.
Montepulciano 2016 – We will now meander down the Adriatic coast to Abruzzo home of Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo. The Abruzzese love grilled meats, particularly lamb, and chilis! Grilling and spice are central to Tex-Mex street tacos as well! Heat up the grill, cook up some meat, drizzle it with with your favority spicy condiment (just don´t go too spicy or the Montepulciano tannins can become overly bitter) and pop open a bottle of Montepulciano.
