Spend time outside on Vista Brewing ‘s 21 acres rediscovering what your ancestors knew: that there’s food everywhere, not just on store shelves and farmer’s markets. This adventure will use all of your senses and involves experiencing these useful plants in their normal, wild settings so that you’ll be able to properly identify (and eat!) them on your own later on.
Come early or stay late for a few beers (or wine/cider) and a meal from Vista’s hyper-local restaurant sourcing from it’s own onsite farm.
Merriwether will also detail the numerous ways he incorporates the plants into his family’s day-to-day diet and medicine chest. The cool thing about Texas is the summer weeds of up north are winter weeds down here so there’ll be plenty to see. Come and release your inner caveman, foodie, survivalist, or hippie!
Please dress appropriately for the weather, including long pants and sturdy walking shoes. This is a rain or shine event. If unsafe weather such as ice storms or heavy rains interfere with the class, a 75% refund will be given if Merriwether makes it to Vista Brewing. A 100% refund will be given if the weather prevents Merriwether from reaching the location.
